DBM #5 - Claudia to the Rescue

Here is Monday again! and that means DBM...time to assess what is taking priority this week. Have you got a project (or projects) needing attention, then come and join me by linking up with:

I am getting back to Baby G's Quilt this week and nothing else....except perhaps some quiet stitching of an evening.

Baby G's Quilt
I was making great progress with this quilt top and then, oh dear!, it wasn't quite turning out the way I wanted.

I have all the square in a square blocks done and ready to join into units for the rows and I even have some units completed.

And then it dawned on me, I am not going to have NEARLY enough of the baby bird fabric to fill in the spaces.

Of course it doesn't help that I cut the first row of birds at the wrong measurement. Now what's that adage....'measure twice, cut once'...for me it should be 'measure ten, cut once'

Initially, I tried to alter the layout on the design board, which is actually a bath size towel!

But I can't deal with haphazard so thought it best to try and find some more birdies. A quick fb message yesterday to my favourite gal, Claudia, at Quiltessentials to see if I was in luck and she still had some left...Answer: Quite possible...will know for sure Monday am. Just goes to show...1/2m is not quite enough for stash building.

I don't think it will take long for her to send me the fabric so I will do as much as I can which will probably see a few rows completed.

Last minute update: I have just spoken to Claudia, and she is sending out my parcel containing an extra metre of these baby birds. *insert big sigh of relief here*

Now, how about you...what is on your Design Board (metaphorically or otherwise) for this week?

  • link anything that you are working on this week or over the past week....needle and thread is all it takes!
  • Please add a link back to Bits 'n Bobs as part of your post (cut and paste the badge, if you like)
  • Please make the effort to visit other link users and leave them a comment to make their day!

  1. Phew!! You are tight - half a metre doesn't go far . .

  2. Glad you were able to get more of your fabric. That's always the dilemma when buying fabric, how much is enough.

  3. I hope you do get hold of the fabric you want Cath... nothing worse than being disappointed that you haven't bought enough fabric! Christine x

  5. Oh, gosh! I know your relief in finding additional fabric, and I can certainly relate to cutting at the wrong measurement! SOMEtimes, the workaround I'm forced to come up with is actually better than what I had originally intended to do, but others - you really hold your breath that you can get more fabric. :)

  6. I am so glad you find more bird fabric. What a lovely fabric for a baby quilt. I will come back to see it finished.

  7. I've been there and done that! Sometimes I could work around it, but I usually go right to the fabric hunt :-) I'm so glad you found more!

  9. I always question how much is enough for stash building. I don't think there's a correct answer! :) I'm so glad you were able to get more fabric! Thanks for linking up to Main Crush Monday. Have a great sewing week!
