What a Find!

My farmer hubby has done volunteer work with a charity for some years now. He has just recently received his card to work here in our local shop in town so goes in on a Wednesday to talk to and access how they can help the needy.......sometimes, and I guess that it is fortunate, there are not many people needing his help so he lends a hand in the shop itself, sorting donated items, pricing them, helping customers etc...

Last week, I got a phone call from him during the afternoon to say he had come across a pair of scissors in a tin when he was sorting through a box of donations and would I be interested enough to buy them.  At this point I should tell you that I am a little nuts for a pair of scissors.......I probably have more pairs of scissors than I have pairs of undies....not kidding? But he doesn't need to know that! Ermmmmm, you probably don't either.

Anyway, I had to say yes and a price was agreed to by the shop manager.....$10 and just like that I was the proud owner of a never-been-used pair of Singer Scissors still in their tin box. I couldn't wait for him to get home so I could look at them in awe.

I have just had a little look on line and there are a pair going on eBay for $45 and a brand new set from a sewing shop in Hobart for $65......I think I might have bagged a bargain.

I have my eye on another find that I spotted at the Bric-a-Brac Shop which I thought a good price too...will tell you about it if it evenuates. Also Singer related.

  2. Hello Cath,

That pair of scissors will outlast those other pairs you have. A great find, hope the other Singer item is a machine. Lovely to see that hubby thought of you.

    Happy days.

  5. Very nice, and nice that your hubby thought of you when he saw the scissors! Thank you for your nice comments on my posts about my travel to York. I am glad you enjoyed to read them. I have enjoyed to read your travel posts too! I think there is so much interesting to see in Britain. So much historic buildings and lovely places. I wish I could travel there a lot!
