Something has got to Change

It took me nearly all day on Sunday (between other tasks) to get through the 40 posts at FNSI this month and I commented on almost everyone. There were a couple of posts that didn't come up or hadn't been updated yet. Don't get me wrong, I love blogging, I love reading blogs, I love starting email conversations with bloggers and I love being inspired with what people make.....and therein lies part of my problem.....I just don't seem to be able to make the time to get my mojo on in the sewing room as I am stuck to the computer.

And that is just the Bits 'n Bobs crafting side of things.  Then of course I have my Cath@Home blog too which I am most prolific on at the moment with mostly kitchen, garden pastimes and news about my new surrounds which I am so in love with. I am having so much fun writing these posts and taking the photos too.

So with all that in mind, I have decided to only read 5 blog posts a day as well as return visit those that leave a comment on either Bits 'n Bobs or Cath@Home.

Here are the Five I read today:

Kitten Stitching.......Kaye had some lovely pictures of her stitching projects and a batch of yummy lemon curd.

Manxgirl......Loulee had some crochet to showcase and spent some lovely time over the weekend with a like minded companion

Cat Patches......Barbara shared a wonderful tutorial on sewing the perfect appliqued circle..(I have pinned it for future reference)

Our New Life in the Country......this is more smallholding stuff but a couple of yummy pastry ideas are shared here today.

Rag Tag Stitching............A couple of Michelle's gorgeous stitcheries here but Michelle is not having such a good time atm so I left her a few kind words.

Just as I was about to close my Blogger Reading List (can't abide Bloglovin) I spotted Teresa's blog at
All Things Vintage and my heart went out to her too.........that's the great thing about blogging......there is always someone who has been through what you are going through and able to give you some words of encouragement or advice.

If I didn't get around to your blog today.......I will read another 5 tomorrow! But right now I am going to get back to my stitching!

Not an up to date photo
PS.....The Mandarin Cake is now posted at Cath@Home

  1. Hi Cath - I have times like that too - sometimes it takes the ladies a couple of days to post about their fnsi/fnwf depending on their weekend commitments - I don't usually go visiting those blogs until the monday or sometimes tues!

And yes, it's hard at times to get the good balance between blog reading & connecting with other bloggers, & actually doing your own thing which you love doing. and everyone's different with how they achieve that balance. But somehow it all works out in the end!

So glad to see you're loving your new surrounds & the pics are so good, you've got a good talent for great pics, that's for sure!

  2. Oh yes I can relate too - I sometime feel swamped trying to look at all the FNSI & FNWF posts - I always check the "regulars" and try to do a few "new" ones. If anyone different vists me I return the visit - but I just cannot find the time to visit them all every time. I sit in front of a computer at work 4 days a weeks I don't want to spend all my other 3 days doing the same!!!
Having said that I do treasure all my blog "experiences" and will continue to blog when I can.

  4. Hi Cath yes i know what you mean i can only comment on the blogs that leave me a comment as i was spending too much time commenting and i also felt it was one sided when people didnt comment on my blog and i have been on theirs,i like that part of blogging as it forms new friendships and builds on old ones, love your stitchery, especially the colour xx

  6. Hi Cath. I know what you mean about spending too much time reading blogs and not enough in the sewing room. I like your idea of reading 5 blogs a day but I don't think I would be strong enough to do that. I'd be worried about missing out on something! LOL! Sometimes I just have a quick read and don't leave a comment and other times I comment on all the blogs I read at that time.

  7. Good for you finding something that will (hopefully) work for you. I tried keeping two blogs once (one was a cat blog) and I found it too taxing and shut the second blog down after a while. It was fun while it lasted, but sewing is my first love.

  8. It does feel like that sometimes. Sounds like you have a plan that suits you. I gave up Instagram almost as soon as I started because I didn't want to give up anymore of my stitching time. Thanks for your lovely comment. It was much appreciated xx...love your stitchery!

  9. I know just what you are saying about reading blogs and not having time in the craft room. I usually do my blog reading early morning when hubby is still asleep. Love your stitchery and must go over and look at the cake ....looks very yummy.

  11. Hi Cath! Oh my can I relate to what you just wrote. Blogging (and by that I mean visiting) can really swallow up a whole day in the blink of an eye. It's so much fun to see what others are creating, but if you spend too much time doing that, then you don't have any loeft for your own creative endeavors. I had to start being mostly reciprocal, although I do try to do a lot more than that when I can. I decided to only blog on Tu, W, and Fr, but we'll see how well I can stick to that. When I came back Tuesday, I had more than 100 emails to answer. It's hard to find a happy balance. I wish you all the best finding yours. And thank you for the time you spent reading my bog!
